To commemorate International Day of Education 2026
, the Federated States of Micronesia delivered a keynote address during the joint ATscale, the Global Partnership for Assistive Technology and UNICEF global webinar on the transformative impact of assistive technology on education.
The 2026 global observance highlighted the role of youth as co-creators of education systems, a message that aligns closely with FSM’s experience. Meaningful participation in education depends on whether learners can see, hear, move, and communicate effectively in the classroom.
The webinar highlighted the key messages of the policy brief “Access to Assistive Technology in Education Systems”, underscoring that inclusive education requires not only policy commitments, but practical access to the tools that support learning.
FSM shared experience from the Unlock Healthy Learning program, supported by ATscale, funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and implemented by UNICEF. The program strengthens collaboration between education and health systems to support early identification and access to assistive technology for learners.
