Formal and Non-Formal Education

This position is established under the Department of Education (PL 15-09), National Government of the Federated States of Micronesia, formerly named as Chief of Basic Education Services and Accreditation. This position is to administer and oversee the operation of the Division of Formal and Non-Formal Education and Schools. It sets standards, oversees core programs and offices in the Department such as Career and Technical Education, Gifted and Talented Education, Sport and Physical Education, and development of Curriculum Standards including Social Studies, Language Arts, Science, Mathematics, Technology, and Engineering. It provides for school physical infrastructure and environmental standards.

Gifted and Talented Education Specialist

Under the supervision of Assistant Secretary of Formal and Non-Formal Education and Schools, this position is responsible for development and implementation of standards and benchmarks, program relevant to address the needs of gifted children in K-12.

Career and Technical Education Coordinator

Formerly this position is known as Chief of Career and Technical Education, however, it is being moved under the supervision of Assistant Secretary of Formal and Non-Formal Education and Schools. Its primary responsibility is to develop, implement, and coordinate career and technical education standards; benchmarks; and guidelines in formal education. In non-formal education, it organizes and coordinates programs which are relevant to the workforce needs of FSM and prepare unemployed youth and adults for job skills.

Curriculum Specialist in the Arts

Under supervision of Assistant Secretary of Formal and Non-Formal Education and Schools, the Curriculum Specialist in the Arts is responsible for developing, executing, monitor, report, and conduct technical assistance in literacy development including social studies, visual arts, performing arts, and literature in schools in the FSM.

Curriculum Specialist in STEM

Under supervision of Assistant Secretary of Formal and Non-Formal Education and Schools, the Curriculum Specialist in Science Technology Engineering Math is responsible for developing, executing, monitor, report, and conduct technical assistance in numeracy development not limited ICT, earth sciences, climate change, and risk management in schools in the FSM.

Early Childhood Education Specialist

Under supervision of Assistant Secretary of Formal and Non-Formal Education and Schools, the Early Childhood Education Specialist is responsible for developing, executing, monitor, report, and conduct technical assistance in policy, curriculum, and standards in early childhood classrooms in the FSM.
